I am fascinated by the intricacy of plant-pollinator mutualisms and other ecological interactions that impact plants, insects, and people in agricultural and natural landscapes. My research program combines quantitative approaches and fine-scale lab work with manipulative field experiments and stakeholder collaboration to untangle the complexity of these interactions while also informing biodiversity conservation and sustainable agroecosystem management.
I completed my Ph.D. in Entomology at the University of California, Davis, where I studied how honey bee competition impacts plant-pollinator interaction patterns, native plant pollination, and the nutritional content of native bee diets. As a USDA NIFA Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University, I investigated how honey bee competition impacts bumble bee fitness and explored factors that influence pathogen transmission in plant-pollinator interaction networks. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Freiburg, working on the VALOR EU-Horizon Project: https://valor-project.eu/.
